Operations Manager-Columbus OH Our client, a multi-national manufacturer of well known food products is looking for a Production Operations Manager to lead and integrate the efforts of the operating teams, to orchestrate the area resources across multiple shifts and assure a quality product is safely manufactured in sanitary conditions. e the Operations. This is completed in an environment that drives continued improvement in associate engagement and customer service. Plant is 24/5, highly automated, non union with 400+ employees This manager reports directly to GM Site Plant manager . Principal Accountabilities Manage the efforts of operating teams of individual lines or technologies across multiple shifts in the efficient conversion of materials into quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary manner within the product design specifications and budgets. Recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems and organization, as needed, to assure that the objectives of the area are met. Deliver area requirements by influencing and gaining co-operation from other departments (Engineering, Quality Services, Commercial and Scheduling/Logistics). Proactively manage associate relations issues; guide and direct the hiring, training, retraining, development and motivation of Operations associates following team working principles with a minimum degree of guidance from the Site Manager. Drive Associate engagement through a foundation of teamwork and involvement. Engagement scores will be the criteria of choice for assuring consistency from site to site. Assure the ongoing production of safe and defect free products consistent with the principles of Company A proficiency of HACCP is required; this manager owns ongoing training and championing of quality goals and improvements at the area level. Through Operations teams, establish area performance standards and goals based on site goals and strategies; measure, control, take corrective action and report results as appropriate in all areas of responsibility. Ensure that open communications are established and that opportunities to broaden the scope and responsibility of Operations teams/associates are undertaken. The Operations Manager is the key resource to deliver regular business performance updates. Recommend improvements, which would result in new and improved equipment and or methods to minimize production costs and improve quality and will help their Operations Section perform more effectively in the near term and the future. Participate with the Site Manager and other Operations support associates in the implementation of improvement strategies that will help their Operations Section perform more effectively in the near term and the future. With the support of the line supervisors/managers, evaluate exempt and non-exempt associate performance. In conjunction with associates career goals, create development plans to challenge their potential. Qualifications: Bachelor degree Required, preferably in one of the Engineering, basic sciences or business related disciplines desirable. Advanced degree ideal 7+ years experience in a Production/Plant Management. With a minimum 3 year experience in a food production environment 3+ years experience in a progressive managerial role. Thorough technical knowledge of process, equipment, controls and products. Experience managing operating budgets. $15Mil ooperatiosn and $48 m Capital Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices. (GMP) FDA, HACCP Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely Understanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with all levels and functions.
