The Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Arizona is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Ruminant Nutrition beginning January 1, 2010. The academic appointment includes an 80% research and 20% teaching commitment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, innovative research and teaching program in the area of beef and dairy nutrition and show a willingness to work on industry-relevant issues. Research experience in a feedlot-environment is preferred. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a related biological discipline. Preference will be given to candidates that can use modern tools of cellular and molecular biology for beef and dairy research, that possess a strong record of research and publication, and that have experience in acquisition of extramural funding. The successful applicant will complement existing departmental strengths in ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition, heat stress physiology, reproductive physiology, and meat science and muscle biology. Expertise in development of animal models is of particular interest. We are seeking an individual who can provide leadership in her/his area of interest and interact with the livestock industry, as well as develop close collaborations with multi-disciplinary programs in biological and environmental sciences that currently exist at the University of Arizona. Responsibilities include advising, recruiting, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, participating in curricular development and training of graduate students.
